The NBA’s Greatest All-Time Duos

Hold on, before you start flipping out understand this… Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire are not, and will not ever be one of the greatest NBA Duos of All-Time. However, their picture is there because they inspired this blog.

Lately, we’ve seen a lot of superstars uniting forces. This trend looks as if it is here to stay for quite some time. With that said, I can promise you the following…. I do not think any of the guys that unite today will be better than the 5 duos you are about to see..

Take a look….

(5) John Stockton and Karl Malone

They didn’t win a championship. I know that hurts their cause… BUT, John Stockton holds the record for most assists and steals in the HISTORY of the game. Karl Malone had the second most points in NBA HISTORY. They were on the same team, and they wouldn’t be where they are without each other. Stats don’t lie.

(4) Larry Bird and Kevin McHale

This duo won championships. Three of them! Unfortunately, we cannot put three people on this one, but Robert Parrish was a huge part of their championship run. Bird and McHale were the perfect compliments at small forward and forward. Both are easily regarded as one of the best all-time at their respective positions.

(3) Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal

I put these two here against my will because I don’t like either guy. The two are obviously two of the greatest players of all-time with Kobe being probably a top 4 guy. They won three championships in 8 seasons, which is very impressive. Both are all-time guys in terms of NBA records. Oh well, I had to do it.

(2) Magic and Kareem

We all know I’m biased. See number 1. But for my money there is no player more intriguing than Magic Johnson. It’s hard for me not to put these two number 1. They won titles, MVPs, and what’s better is they were perfect compliments to each other. One could argue these two as both top 5 players of all-time. I’m sorry. You know how it is with…………

(1) Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen

If you read my stuff, you knew this was coming. Michael Jordan is the greatest player of all-time. Scottie Pippen is one of the top 50. 6 Championships in 9 Seasons. Scoring titles, All-NBA teams, Defensive Teams and Players of the Year. Argue this one with me.. I dare you!

  1. Except for the fact that they are almost in reverse order: Stockton and Malone, Pippen and Jordan, the rest can go anywhere.

  2. Totally agree with Carlos Novena! Stockton and Malone definitely on top… no question about that! Their two of the finest Champions of all
that ever graced the courts of the NBA :) They may not have what “everyone deems necessary to be considered Champions, which is an NBA ring” but… this isn’t what defines you as being an All Time Great Champion player! Anybody that knows anything about the true definition of a Champion understands that STATS don’t lie and they in turn will always be what sets u free as the Best All Time Duo!!! Thanks John and Karl for your unwavering sportsmanship at its finest degree for being 2 players that stood the test of time on all levels!!!!!!!

  3. I definitely agree that Jordan and Pippen are number 1. There was never a more dominant duo than them. Although I think that Bird and McHale should be number 2 due to the fact they were absolutely dominant in their day.

  4. What about the Pistons back court duo Isiah Thomas & Joe Dumars? They helped Detroit win back to back championships 1989 and 1990 respectively.
