What’s the deal with that #2 seed in the West Region? That’s a good question. The San Diego State Aztecs finished the season 32-2, winning the Mountain West Conference in convincing fashion. Well, ok now what? As a #2 seed you have to think they’re going to win a couple games in the tournament right? If they do; it’ll be their first NCAA Tournament win in the history of the program. Puzzling. A team shooting for their first ever win shouldn’t be a two seed.

The Aztecs are good. Very good. You don’t win 32 games in a season without being exceptional. They have a solid group of good players lead by Kawhi Leonard. I look at their schedule and think they did pretty much everything they could. How hard is it to go undefeated? You are going to have a couple slip ups along the way. They had two, and it was to BYU who was ranked in the top 10 all season. The fact of the matter is; the team did not have any slip ups. They won every game they were suppose to and they did so with relative ease. So where do we go from here?

I look at the bottom half of the West Region and I think San Diego State should be licking their lips. They can beat Penn St. or Temple. Then they get a date with Missouri (great matchup for them), Connecticut (I think they’re do for a let down), or Cincinnati (a somewhat similar team who they can beat). I think it’s absolutely a possibility SDSU and Duke meet in the Regional Final. I know they are small and from out West, but SDSU is a solid pick.
