I read an article this weekend about ex-NHL enforcer Donald Brashear trying his hand at MMA fighting. This got me thinking…. Is MMA going to be the next thing that washed up athletes try, and also which of these athletes would find success at it?
If I’m going to do this post it’s only fair that I can only use a sport once. It’d be easy to stroll down the list of NFL players and pick fighters. The real challenge would be picking from all professional sports. Why the hell not? Feel free to give your opinion..
Here are my 5 picks…..
Tough one here. Real tough. I was thinking Pujols, but decided to go with Jon Rauch. Why? The reach. He’s 6’11″. That, plus he seems unstable in the head, and you have to be for MMA. Tough one, baseball.
I had to go with Dwight Howard here. I’m worried because he’s a goof ball. I’m not worried because he’s an absolute physical freak. The guy could be the strongest guy in the NBA, you mix that with speed, agility, and reach. Lets face it, if he was a bigger dbag this would be a no-brainer.
This was easy. Derek Boogaard was voted toughest guy in the NHL by his peers, he’s 6’7″, 250 lbs, and has hands that are described as “cinder blocks”. Plus his nickname is the Boogey Man! Perfect. FYI, he was hurt all year this year that’s why you didn’t see him.
The NFL is tough. There are a ton of guys. We all know how I feel about Vernon Davis, but I have to go with Troy here. Troy will fuggin claw your eyes out. The guy is an absolute rampaging beast. In his weight class, he would succeed.
HA You thought I was going to pick Tiger didn’t you. Why would I pick him? His ex-wife worked him! That’s Camilo Villegas by the way. He’s a golfer, he’s pretty ripped, I’m sure he would crush the gay division.
