With Arsenal’s loss on Sunday to Bolton, Manchester United appears to be all but a lock to win the English Premier League this year. That’s not the only title the Red Devils have their eyes on. Tomorrow, Manchester United will face German side Schalke in the first leg of the Champions League Semifinals. A Premier League title, and Champs League victory would cap a terrific season for Manchester United.
Nothing is ever over until it’s over, but United appear to have the Premier League in their grasp. Late-surging Chelsea is 6 points adrift the table leaders with 4 matches remaining. Chelsea Boss Carlo Ancelotti is dreaming about an unlikely United collapse, when in reality it’s highly unlikely. Things could get dicey as United do still play Arsenal and Chelsea, but they also face relegation threatened Blackpool and Blackburn. Sorry Carlo.
Schalke has been the shock team of the Champions League, but their dream run may finally come to an end. Their only hope is domestic focus distracts a United team that has seemingly been impervious to such distractions all season. If United advance to the finals they get the pleasure of facing either Real Madrid or Barcelona who square off in the other semis. If you’re a soccer fan, the Champs League is set up to finish in amazing fashion, and Manchester United could be holding the trophy, not dropping it under the bus, at the end of the day.
I read an article this weekend about ex-NHL enforcer Donald Brashear trying his hand at MMA fighting. This got me thinking…. Is MMA going to be the next thing that washed up athletes try, and also which of these athletes would find success at it?
If I’m going to do this post it’s only fair that I can only use a sport once. It’d be easy to stroll down the list of NFL players and pick fighters. The real challenge would be picking from all professional sports. Why the hell not? Feel free to give your opinion..
