I can hear the critics now… “Those coaches left because they had better offers, you would have done the same”. Well, maybe their position in life existed because of, hmmm, some dancing around the rules. Furthermore, some coaches had the wherewithal to know they needed to get out before things get real bad. This doesn’t necessarily mean there was any rule breaking, they just knew it was time to get out.

I understand the NCAA rule book is a mile long, but for those coaches that bailed before trouble came it seems like the rules that were broken were common knowledge. Here we go; 5 Coaches that bailed out an opportune time, and never looked back…

5. John Calipari – Left Memphis for Kentucky

John’s doing well for himself. He’s landed the most prestigious coaching job in college basketball. He gets NBA players for one year and tries to win National Championships. However, Memphis wasn’t left squeaky clean after he bailed. Derrick Rose was the star of a SAT scandal that resulted in vacated wins, and probation. Interestingly enough, you don’t hear Calipari’s name mentioned with it. He did coach D. Rose didn’t he?

4. Lane Kiffin – Left Tennessee for USC

How on God’s green earth does this guy have a job coaching at USC? How does he have a job coaching anywhere? Kiffin has been chased out of jobs, been involved in scandals, you name it. He fortunately was able to bail to USC before his nonsense at Tennessee started to spread. He’s riding his father’s coattails, the guy isn’t even a good coach.

3. Urban Meyer – Left Florida……..

There was some funky business going on at Florida after the 2010 season. (The season after which Urban Meyer said adios) Prize center Maurkice Pouncey was allegedly taking money, sums of over $100,000. Not to mention, there were criminal charges a couple years earlier. Oh and Cam Newton went there too… There was just too much “stuff” going on, and I think it got a little too hot in the kitchen for Urban.

2. Houston Nutt- Left Arkansas for Ole’ Miss

This one is total bullsh$t. Houston Nutt got himself into some trouble at Arkansas, so what did he do? He resigned and signed with Ole’ Miss before you could get your morning crap out. He was texting a TV Anchor! Absolutely ridiculous. Guy escaped Arkansas and got a job at Ole’ Miss with a clean slate.

1. Pete Carroll – Left USC for NFL’s Seattle Seahawks

My favorite one. Pete Carroll rode up the coast with his finger in the air as he became Head Coach and Vice President of the Seattle Seahawks. Meanwhile, back at Trojan’ville the Reggie Bush scandal only vacated wins, championships, and made the program look like a joke. While Reggie and the University took the fall, Pete Carroll’s name wasn’t mentioned. Yeah I know he got an NFL job, but I’d bet my life he knew he had to get out. There may be more stuff to come….
