Remember a few weeks ago when Kareem was bitching about not having a statue? That sparked some debate over the next few days about how easily statues are being erected these days. I mean one player has a great season and he gets a statue? I mean hell. Cam Newton has a statue of himself already. Dude hasn’t played one day in the NFL.
OK, he was a great college player…but a statue? Not even a year removed from college? Personally I think that’s a little much. Funny in all that debating. No one ever mentioned that soccer players get statues an awful lot as well.
In fact, here are 1o you might not have known about…..
Wimbledon started yesterday. I decided to go for the most challenging post of the year…. Try and convince Unathletic readers that Wimbledon would be worth attending. I know I’m up against it. Tennis isn’t the most popular sport, and I don’t think the All England Club is throwing any bangin’ parties anytime soon. The best tennis players have gathered in London for one of the four Tennis majors. Lets do this. This is going to be tough….
Wimbledon started yesterday, and here are 5 reasons it would be worth attending.

The Bruins are doing it big. They are definitely one-upping the Mavs. I’ve heard tons of stories about the Bruins partying, and racking up big-time bar bills. What the hell is Ace of Spades vodka??? Someone help me out here.

Week 5: Erik Bedard – W, 6 IP, 6 Hits, 4 Ks
Week 6: Phil Humber -W, 7 2/3 IP, 5 Hits, 5 Ks
Week 7: Jonathan Niese – W, 6 1/3 IP, 5 Hits, 2 ER, 4 K
We had sort of a pedestrian week last week, but Niese brought you a WIN, great WHIP, and a little ERA help. Either way, the numbers don’t lie my friends, we are rolling. We’re still waiting for that call from Yahoo Fantasy Sports.
Why Jake Arrieta - Jake is sort of an enigma. Sometimes hes the man, lately he’s been kind of a chump. He’s been pretty good the past 2 times out after a rough patch. I’ll take the matchup vs. Pittsburgh away and take a shot. His numbers aren’t anything to smile upon, but he can win on the road, and the potential here is too great to ignore. He pitches tonight so get a move on…
Why Colby Lewis – Lewis has been a throw-away in many leagues. It really depends when you see him. Unfortunately, I’m breaking the rules here because he’s 50% owned in most leagues, but this is the start I want. He’s free in my league. If he’s free in your league snatch him up. He’s a K pitcher, and this should be a guaranteed WIN with good numbers.
The Verdict – I broke the rules for the guy so you have to pick him up. I like Lewis against Houston here A LOT. I want an add an hold my friends. I apologize if he’s owned in your league, but he’s a great pull on Wednesday after that 10 strikeout game.
There are a lot of injury plays in sports that I hate. This is one of them. It just makes me cringe. Fortunately, this one is quick, and you can’t really see the effects of it, but there are plenty of videos out there with diving accidents. If you’re diving and injure your head please click this link for the necessary tips. I’m just kidding have a nice weekend.

Granted I’m Jewish and the whole bible loving thing irks me a little bit, but it’s really tough to say anything bad about Tim Tebow. I mean let’s face it, we don’t really know if the dude is a virgin or how much of a religious person he really is. But seriously team. Has Tebow ever really done a bad thing? Like, ever?
And clearly his latest actions were right on par with how good a dude he is. Right after he played in the Pro-Am at the Fed Ex St Jude Classic (the one where people saw that picture that looked like he was on ‘roids but it was just the angle) he teamed up with Urban Meyer to pay a visit to some sick kids in the hospital.
Honestly I really hope that Tebow somehow cuts through his weaknesses at the NFL level and becomes a major superstar. While it might not be 100% likely that this happens, he sure as hell continues to earn points with the man upstairs.
This is what I love about Veronika. She had no intention of being a model. Her friends told her to go to a modeling agency. You’d think it’d be a no-brainer right. Just like if I had a 14 inch penis, I’d be in California right now working for Vivid Videos. You have to play with the gifts the God gave you, and let me say…. he gave Veronika one helluva gift.
Take a look.
I don’t think anyone is unhappy with the outcome of this weekends U.S. Open at Congressional. Rory McIlroy ran away with the tournament in the most impressive fashion in the history of the tournament. So we can all forget about the collapse at the Masters. It’s pretty obvious that Rory has a ton of talent and this won’t be the last time he wins a major tournament.
With that said, people tend to get a little carried away by one fantastic tournament. He’s 22 years old, and no one will argue that his future is bright. What’s even better is he seems to be a great kid. Keeping things on the golf course though, I just don’t think it’s time to start comparing him to Tiger Woods. Remember keep it on the golf course. It’s easy to get carried away with comparisons, but it’s one tournament. Let’s try and not forget the career accomplishments of Jack Nicklaus, or just the sheer domination of Tiger Woods.
In several years we may be revisiting this conversation. McIlroy may pile up Major wins, shoot ridiculous years under-par, and just dominate the sport. But right now, it’s tough to throw his name around with the big boys. He’s a great kid, a wickedly-talented player, and I wish him great success….. but we need to just chill out for a while.
