Starting tomorrow Showtime is airing an original series that goes behind the scenes of the defending World Series Champion San Francisco Giants. The show will air at 10 PM on Wednesday nights, and will be as entertaining as any sports series we’ve seen.
When you think about sports behind-the-scenes series over the past few years you think about Hard Knocks (NFL), and 24/7 the special on the Penguins and Washington Capitals (NHL). Showtime has gone to America’s past time, and has picked probably the most intriguing team in all of baseball to document. It’s going to be the next great behind-the-scenes sports series, without a doubt.
If you aren’t convinced yet…. Here are 5 more reasons why you should be tuning in every week.
5. The Giants are the Defending Champions
You know what that means… Parties, appearances, rings, and a lot more. This isn’t the team that was golfing in October, the Giants won the championship last year so you better believe there is going to be an inside look at the championship, the aftermath, and of course the expectations going into 2011.
4. The Organization Itself
The organization itself has a lot of intrigue for me. They spend good money (8th Highest Payroll) but they don’t buy championships. They have a lot of home-grown talent, and General Manager Brian Sabean (above) was masterful in putting together the pieces for a championship run.
3. The Freak
Is there a more intriguing personality in baseball? Probably not. The Franchise is an opportunity to see this little devil behind-the-scenes. I’m curious. Afterall, he is the guy who made the saying “f$ck year” famous last year during the playoffs!
2. This Psychopath Is On The Team Too
Might want to put the kids to bed early this time! Brian Wilson. What can we say about the Giants closer. Well, first he’s absolutely insane. Second, he could have a TV show all by himself. The beauty of this is we get him and more. If I’m curious about Tiny Tim, I’m fascinated by this guy.
1. Behind-the-Scenes Sports Shows are Awesome
I love the behind-the-scenes sports shows, and this is going to be no different. If you’re a sports fanatic you really enjoy the opportunity to go behind-the-scenes. You get to see what the players do when they aren’t between the lives. You get a glimpse into their family life, and you also get to see the work they do for others. I’m excited and I will be watching. You should too.
