As the baseball season approaches August, we can begin to speculate about postseason play. It occurred to me today, unfortunately, that if my team doesn’t make it to the big dance, I wouldn’t be terribly upset if it were the Red Sox vs. the Phillies in the World Series. I’m saying this as the team I bleed for just so happens to be a team that would be consider a big rival of one of the two aforementioned clubs.

It sucks to say it, but I think the Phillies and Red Sox would give you an incredibly entertaining World Series. I know Major League Baseball would love it. So here’s how it stands; I hope your or my team makes it to the World Series, HOWEVER if it ends up being Phillies vs. Red Sox it’s going to be ok…

Hit the jump if you’re not convinced just yet…

5. Cheesesteaks and Clam Chowdaahhh

Think about it… If you’re traveling for the World Series you get some serious eats. We are talking two towns with some good foods, and a nice nightlife. The experience is key!

4. Josh Beckett vs. Roy Halladay

I love the fact that the two Game 1 starters are the best pitchers in their respective leagues today. Ok ok, I’ll give you Verlander, maybe Weaver, but Beckett is 2 in ERA and Halladay is 4. Oh not to mention, these guys are the quintessential postseason pitchers. Oh and Lester vs. Lee isn’t bad either

3. Big Market Cities With Great Ballparks

Philadelphia and Boston both have, lets say, spirited fans. On top of that, they have awesome ballparks and great history. The parks and fans would be a site in themselves.

2. The Two Best Teams Would Be Facing Off

When was the last time it was so obvious as to who the best teams are… umm, can’t remember. And when was the last time those two teams met in the championship. There is not an argument that exists that can deny the fact that the Sox and Phillies are baseball’s best.

1. Juggernaut Offense Meets Shutdown Pitching

This is the best part. The Red Sox have a ridiculously good offense. The Phillies have an amazing pitching staff. Oh man, it gets me excited.
