Ubaldo Jimenez and B.J. Upton may be the biggest names floated around this week. That’s about as exciting as it gets. The problem is; Ubaldo Jimenez may be the best name floated around and (a) he stinks this year (b) his velocity is down (c) the Rockies are asking for everything and your mother for him. B.J. Upton, we all know my feelings on this guy, is most likely going to be moved. If he goes to the Phillies then it’s noteworthy. If he goes to the Nationals or Rockies, then it’s whatever.

And then there is Carlos Beltran. The guy is playing well this year. Remind you of something? He played pretty well in the playoffs and was rewarded a ridiculous contract he didn’t live up to. Is history going to repeat itself? My guess is Red Sox, Phillies, or Braves and I do believe a deal will get done. I think the Giants want the guy the most, but they’ll lose out on him.

That’s really it unless we get a shocker trade. Sure there may be some little deals, but who can get excited over Rich Harden or Leo Nunez. I think Heath Bell will be dished in a very uneventful deal to a mid-level team like the Cardinals, but like I said, I’m not excited. The big buyers, the Yankees and Red Sox, don’t really see anything they like so don’t expect a big move. It’s pretty ho-hum, onward with the second half of the season.  By the way, if I were the Yankees I’d give the Mariners whatever the hell they want for King Felix.
