We were just about a week removed from the death of a fan at the Ballpark in Arlington, and we almost were revisiting the story again last night. Keith Carmickle and his friends were at the Home Run Derby last night catching balls. They had already caught three when Keith went for a fourth. As he went for the fourth, he fell over the ledge and faced a 20 foot fall into the pool area. If it wasn’t for his brother and friends, who grabbed his legs and pulled him back up, Keith may have been in serious danger of losing his life.
“He tried to catch it, I grabbed his legs and his brother grabbed his arms,” said Nelson, who, along with Kraig Carmickle, is from Chandler. “So when he went over the ledge, we pulled him back. He wasn’t going down, I was holding on.”
The worst part is the guy was pretty nonchalant about the whole deal…
“I thought: I’ve lived a good life,” Carmickle said about dangling.
If I was leaning over the edge I’d be thinking you f%cking idiot you’re going to die trying to go for a pointless baseball at a home run derby. This situation is something that needs attention, fans need to be safer. You’d be surprised at how many falls like this take place during sporting events. Let the lessons be learned from the past.

It happens to the best of us. We all have moments in life we regret. Hell they practically happen every day. But not all of us are in the spotlight during most of our days. The majority of us have the ability to cover up our mistakes and even hide our faults.
But not athletes. At least not high profile athletes. There ain’t much you can do if a photo gets leaked or you’re caught in a crappy moment on television. I guess all you can do is either laugh or do your best to have a better current image of yourself.
Here are 15 moments athletes wish they could have back…..
Starting tomorrow Showtime is airing an original series that goes behind the scenes of the defending World Series Champion San Francisco Giants. The show will air at 10 PM on Wednesday nights, and will be as entertaining as any sports series we’ve seen.
When you think about sports behind-the-scenes series over the past few years you think about Hard Knocks (NFL), and 24/7 the special on the Penguins and Washington Capitals (NHL). Showtime has gone to America’s past time, and has picked probably the most intriguing team in all of baseball to document. It’s going to be the next great behind-the-scenes sports series, without a doubt.
If you aren’t convinced yet…. Here are 5 more reasons why you should be tuning in every week.

Amazing game. Just what the doctor ordered for the Women’s World Cup. It’s never going to be as popular as the men’s but this was a much needed injection of respect. My guess is most people will be watching going forward.

We’ve all been there before…. It’s a Monday, you don’t want to be at work, things aren’t going right. This is what happens when it overcomes you. The best part is the dude just goes zero to sixty in no time. There isn’t any build up. He sits and watches the printer calmly then just loses it. Scan your computer… money idea.

Every once in a while you’ll catch something very special on television that you just wish you had taped. It was only a split second but you’re thinking to yourself “man, why the hell didn’t I tape that?” Well today’s little Carlos Boozer GIF is a perfect example of such a moment that actually was recorded.
Nothing’s more gratifying than your teammates showing you appreciation during the playoffs.
Way to go guys….
Had to throw this video up here today. Why? Well, one because it makes me depressed we aren’t going to hear Gus Johnson next year at the NCAA Tournament. Two, because it’s awesome and perfectly sync’d. I can guarantee you this may open up a can of worms with Gus Johnson. There are going to be attempts to sync Johnson’s calls to all types of plays now. Awesome game, awesome goal, pretty awesome idea to dub Gus over it.
I can acknowledge it; I’ve always had a thing for Jennifer Connelly. I don’t know what it is about her, she’s just sexy. She is also aging very nicely. She hit the big 4-1 this year and still looks like she can handle chicks 10 years younger than her. Everyone has different tastes….
Take a look….
