I think it’s safe to say that Nike is the leader in the clubhouse when it comes to basketball shoes. It all started in the early 1970′s and took off from there. Of course, Nike didn’t do it alone. They needed some big name players to endorse a shoe named after them, and it was on.
I’ve always loved Nike Basketball Shoes, so this is our tribute to 3o years of success. I think everyone knows who Nike owes there to success to, but it wasn’t that shoe alone.
Here are 5 shoes that made Nike Basketball…
5. The Nike Blazer
It all started in 1972 with George Gervin and the Nike Blazer. This is the beginning my friends. We can’t forget who we are and where we come from.
4. Nike Air Force 1
Air Force 1′s have a song for crying out loud. The early 80′s gave birth to Nike Air Force 1′s the originals, and they took off from there without a real name behind them.
3. Nike Air Penny
We jump to the 90′s for the Nike Air Penny. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. The Lil’ Penny commercials may be the best there ever was when we’re talking about marketing a product. Just great commercials.
2. Nike Air Max Lebron
We can’t get ahead of ourselves here. Lebron carried the torch with Nike in the 21st Century. Say what you want about Lebron, but his shoes are money, and they’re a huge part of Nike Basketball.
1. AIR JORDAN
Michael Jordan signed with Nike. Probably the greatest signing in the history of sports! There will never be a great shoe than the Air Jordan in terms of legacy. Interestingly enough, the NBA fined Jordan for wearing the shoe every game because it violated their dress code. He took the fines, and made the shoe historic.
