We’ve only just begun to witness NCAA Conference realignment. In time, we will have a Super Conference that controls a huge percentage of the revenues in collegiate sports.
It’s unfortunate, but inevitable. Collegiate athletics have become a business, and businesses do what they need to do to be as profitable as possible. Right now, we’re in a survival-of-the-fittest-mode. If a school does not possess a quality Division I football program. Forget about it.
Seeing NCAA athletics are under constant movement, what would this Super Conference look like in ten years? What schools are going to reap the benefits, and what schools are going to face athletic extinction? Here is a ten-team Super Conference that will be created in time…
10. University of Texas
Texas holds the lions share of Big 12 revenues. They also were trendsetters with the Longhorn network. All things considered, Texas competes at a high level in many sports. Obviously, football isn’t a problem here. Texas’ revenues are through the roof.
9. University of Florida
I, personally, underestimated how successful Florida is as an athletic department. It is common knowledge that the Gators have won a National Championship in both football and basketball this decade, but I was surprised to find that their other teams are equally as good.
