We’ve hit the half-way point in the NFL and we’re basically on the home stretch in College Football. I’d say it’s a good time to take a look at some of the bigger hits from football in 2o11.

No one likes when a guy gets injured, but a good hard hit can get the crowd to its feet. For me personally, the worst is special teams. You’re sitting there waiting for the ball to come down to you, meanwhile half-a-dozen dudes are sprinting down the field to absolutely annihilate you. That takes some stones.

Let’s take a look back at some of the brutal hits from football 2011 at the midway point…

6. LSU’s Jarvis Landry Crushes Kick Returner

This qualifies under what I said in the opening. Returning kicks can be suicide man.

5. A WR Throws a Huge Block??

I have to put this one up here, but this is a rare event. Plax lays the wood on Mike Jenkins blocking down-field.

4. Dudes Are Killing in Preseason!

You’d be surprised how many huge hits there are in preseason. Guys are selling out to make the team. I don’t think this guy has gotten up yet from this hit.

3. This is Brutal

I wish we had a better shot of this hit. It could be the most brutal hit of them all.

2. This is what happens when Oklahoma plays Ball St.

The worst part about this hit is the the score. Guys are laying dudes out up 50 points.

1. His head fell off?

Yeah, he was pretty old.
