Nike unveiled Oregon’s newest Nike Pro Combat uniform system, what it calls ‘the most advanced football uniform system ever assembled.’ Oregon wore a similar version of these uniforms in last season’s BCS national title game. The technology behind the uniform ‘system’ is explained on Nike’s website. (More photos of the uniforms are there, too.)
“Oregon represents the gold-standard when it comes to merging science and innovation with athletic performance and we are excited to continue our partnership with Nike by unveiling the next iteration in uniform innovation for the Rose Bowl,” Oregon coach Chip Kelly said in Nike’s release. “Nike always starts by listening to the voice of the athlete as they continue to bring the most intuitive technology to the game.”

Oregon has a new uniform every week so this should come as a surprise to no one. I don’t get it. How can one create an advanced uniform? What does it mean to sit at the cutting edge of innovation for f$cking football uniforms? Seriously, somebody answer this question – Is Oregon at an advantage because Phil Knight is an Oregon guy, and every game they get a new HIGHLY ADVANCED football uniform. Whatever, the uniforms are always ugly as shit and until a guy has a rocket packĀ in his pants Oregon’s uniforms are just like any other team’s. Until then, I guess they have to do what they can to compensate for being nicknamed the Ducks.
