Well, let’s be honest; Lawrence, Kansas isn’t ever going to be a football town. Basketball is the number one there and will not be threatened. However, this is a neat little story. Does it make Kansas better? Not really, but it’s neat. Happy Holidays.

The match between Ajax Amsterdam and AZ Alkmaar on Wednesday was abandoned due to an incident with a fan. Check out the gnarly scene above. Soccer is definitely one of those sports that fans get involved a little too much. Check out the video of the accidental incident [Esteban Alvarado Fight] I cannot believe the goalie got a red card for defending himself from a crazy fan that’s ridiculous.
Nothing better than a little fun to send people off into the Holiday Weekend with a smile. To be honest, some of the funnier stuff we’ve posted on Unathletic has been people wiping out on ice.
Hit the jump and you can watch a video of people attacking icy stairs and failing!

Looks like Kellen Moore likes to hang out with Elvis at the BCS. Speaking of which there were some great sports photos this week. I mean the holidays are here so you know athletes are going to be on their best/worst behavior.
We’ve got some charity, some REAL charity, and some lewd t-shirts in this week’s edition of the photos of the week.
Enjoy the fun after the jump….
The St. Louis Cardinals and centerfielder Carlos Beltran have agreed on a two-year contract, according to Derrick Goold of St. Lous Post-Dispatch. Beltran, 34, has been a hot commodity on the free agent market, especially drawing interest from St. Louis after slugger Albert Pujols departed to join the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Losing Pujols is a killer. He was the heart and soul of the Cardinals for so many years, but I want to reassure fans that things are going to be ok. First, you are the defending World Series Champs so you’re already in better shape than damn near every team. More importantly, I like that little squad you have in St. Louis. With Prince Fielder out of Milwaukee and Braun off the juice, the NL Central is yours for the taking even without the best player in baseball.
If Adam Wainwright can return healthy there’s no reason to worry in St. Louis. David Freese appears to be a young super star surrounded by savvy vets like Carlos Beltran, Lance Berkman, Matt Holiday, and Yadier Molina. Like I said, I like this team. There’s a good blend of youngsters, vets, and role players. It’s a VERY rare occasion one can say that a team is going to be alright after losing one of the best players in the history of the game, but this is one of those occasions.

Finally! After a prolonged lockout and a shortened offseason complete with fascinating trades and signings, the NBA is about to be back in action. This means that it’s time to get those arena tickets, or sign up for the NBA package (I like TV Direct) in order to make sure that you can partake in all the action.
It’s a bit of a shame to admit it, but the lockout seems to have caused more excitement around the beginning of the season, as fans are so excited to see their teams back on the court. With this in mind, here are a few words on some teams that should look dramatically different this season.

I don’t know too much about Rugby but like any other sport they have their cheerleaders. Now from what I understand there’s a Rugby contingent called the “Sevens.” I could be completely off here but I think that’s what it’s called. And within this there are a number of teams from different countries and so forth.
Today I think we’re focusing on the Springbok Sevens. What’s unclear is whether or not they have a cheering squad. What is clear is that some event happened the other day and there were cheerleaders there. Does that help?
Eh, probably not. But check out these ladies after the jump….
It’s the Friday morning before Christmas weekend. What better way to celebrate this lovely morning than Christmas FAILS? Christmas is a magical time of year that provides giving, love, and bonding. Fortunately, it also provides some pretty funny moments.
Now I’m not out to ruin Christmas, just to make light of some minor incidents that occurred during the holidays. I don’t wish any fails on anyone, but if by chance it happens… you can send the videos our way.
Enjoy the clips and have a great holiday…
