New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson wasn’t too pleased to learn Pablo Sandoval will start for the National League at third base in the All-Star game.

Sandoval beat out Mets third baseman David Wright in the final week of voting after trailing by more than 400,000 votes at the last voting update. Alderson took to his Twitter account Sunday night and Tuesday afternoon, which had been inactive since April 12.

@MetsGM: Wright vs.Sandoval: A city of 8 million was outvoted by a city of 800,000.

@MetsGM: ASG election of “Kung Fu Panda” shows the value of a cute nickname. Surprised Giants fans didn’t elect a “ball dude” to start at 3B.

The selection of Sandoval was one of the most surprising on the roster. After missing 40 games with a broken hand, Sandoval returned to hit .300 with six home runs through Monday. Wright on the other hand is batting .354 with 50 RBI.

I completely agree with Alderson 1 million percent. Absolutely ridiculous. Wright deserves the starting nod at third base without question. Oh by the way, he’s the best defensive third baseman in the National League too.
