Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says his club has spoken to Fulham about signing U.S. forward Clint Dempsey. Rodgers said “Clint is a player we’ve inquired about” and “he’s a very talented player,” adding that managing director Ian Ayre has been in contact with Fulham “to see what the position is. That is where we’re at.”

Dempsey scored 23 goals in all competitions for Fulham in 2011-12, including 17 in the English Premier League. The American scored 13 goals in all competitions the previous season.

The Liverpool manager was speaking Wednesday while on the Premier League club’s three-match tour of the United States and Canada. Liverpool faces Toronto FC on Saturday, AS Roma at Fenway Park in Boston on July 25 and Tottenham in Baltimore on July 28 before heading back to England.

I mentioned this before in an article after the 2011-2012 EPL season ended. Clint Dempsey is the PERFECT fit for Liverpool. He is the grit that the Reds are longing for.. They’re a big money club.. I can see this happening.
