The MLB offseason rumors are starting to heat up. I don’t remember ever seeing so many qualifying offers before. A lot of teams are expecting to lose guys and want those draft picks…

Today, we’re going to highlight five of the better 2013 free agents who are ALMOST guaranteed to be terrible signings. Regardless, someone is going to sign them and it’ll be a huge mistake.

Hit the jump to see the biggest mistakes of the MLB offseason….

5.) Jose Valverde – RP – Detroit Tigers

If you take away Jose Valverde’s postseason implosion you have some above average regular season stats for a closer. However, Jose Valverde was horrible in the postseason and lost his closing job. Now listen – do I really think a team would be dumb enough to sign this guy? No.. but will someone. Probably. If you want to throw away money give it to me. Valverde is done, done, and done.

4.) Melky Cabrera – OF – San Francisco Giants

It’s a business and you better believe that some team is going to take a chance on the latest PED posterboy. The funny thing is; I think that Melky may be a safer bet than the next three guys you’re going to see, but nothing is for sure. There’s a good chance Melky, without the juice, fall off the baseball stratusphere. He’ll get a 2-year, $10 M deal though. Just watch.
