Boston Celtics star point guard Rajon Rondo has a torn ACL in his right knee and will miss the remainder of the season. The Celtics announced Rondo’s injury during Sunday’s 100-98 double-overtime victory against the Miami Heat, stating that the four-time All-Star will undergo surgery. The initial report on Rondo was a hyperextended knee, but tests showed the ACL tear, an injury that usually takes up to a year for recovery. A date for the surgery had not been scheduled as of Sunday afternoon, said team spokesman Brian Olive, who confirmed that Rondo’s season is finished.
What is it with these sideline reporters breaking news to players like this? First, Adrian Peterson gets told he missed an incredible record by 8-yards. Next, Paul Pierce gets told the Celtics are pretty much screwed. So much for celebrating a big win. I give Pierce a lot of credit man. His emotions went right to Rondo. Other dudes would have been like Whelp there goes our season.
