Who will top Tiger Woods next year? Maybe Mariano Rivera can turn out to be evil. Nah, that’s just the franchise.

For whatever reason I decided to search for college basketball fights. Maybe it’s because I’ve been getting into hockey or something. Anyway, here’s a 1972 treat for ya between Minnesota and Ohio State where a dude gets knocked down, offered help to get up, accepts said help, and then takes a swift knee in the nuts. I guess that teaches kids to be weary of accepting help from the dude who just threw you to the floor.

…After showing WR James the shed (garage, or whatever his lawyer wants to call it).

Texas Tech fired Mike Leach on Wednesday after the coach took the school to court to try to overturn his suspension for alleged mistreatment of an injured player.

“I’m very sad to say there’s only one person to blame for this and it’s Mike Leach,” Texas Tech chancellor Kent Hance told the AP.

Since the sh*t hit the fan, I’ve realized that I know very little about Leach besides his shed-locking ways. A quick youtube search reveals some of what I’m assuming are his finest moments. Enjoy the best of Mike Leach after the jump. Continue Reading »

What many have called a shed has been revealed to be nothing more than a garage by Coach Leach’s lawyer. His lawyer spoke as if his client would now be vindicated, simply because it turns out Leach didn’t send players into a scene from Saw, but rather an empty, rather creepy garage.

Really?

It’s still a freaking garage! That’s like saying “My client didn’t maim and torture this person to death, he simply shot him, killing him instantly!” Sure, one is technically better than the other, but both are definitely wrong.

Besides, most reports indicate that the lights were turned off, because apparently that’s what you do for people who have concussions. So does it matter if it was a shed or a garage if the lights were off? No.

This lawyer’s slogan should be, “He’ll make you seem a little less evil! (But still evil)” Bravo.

My father, a Midwesterner through and through, has always held some conspiracy theories of big media giving Midwestern teams and conferences a lack of credit. Most of the time I overlook these theories and chalk them up to the Fox News era of wacky theories, but sometimes… sometimes these theories have some creedence.

In baseball it’s the angelic portrait that the media painted of the Yankees. I still remember hearing the joy in the media’s voices when they announced “The Yankees are BACK in the World Series,” as if the last time they were in it was when the Royals and Pirates were good. This past Christmas, it was everyone expecting the Lakers to trounce the underappreciated Cavaliers. Well after smoking the Lakers like a spent bong, they moved on to Atlanta where they’ve continued their winning streak.

For your college example, you need look no further than the Big Ten football conference. This is a conference that has been crapped on ever since the Buckeyes received a beatdown by the Florida Gators in the national championship. A game that Buckeye fans simply like to call “an upset,” when we all know it was like the scene in A Christmas Story when Ralphie kicks the crap out of the older kid. Since then, the Big Ten has been looked at like a bully who got his ass kicked. The media has looked at the Big Ten, Ohio State especially, with skepticism. Continue Reading »

Back during the whole Mangino fiasco, Texas Tech’s Mike Leach spoke up for the man who supposedly slapped/said mean things to a player. Well somehow it seems karma has been involved, because Leach is now dealing with his own controversy, and has been suspended from the Alamo Bowl.

Texas Tech announced Monday afternoon that it has suspended head football coach Mike Leach after receiver Adam James and his father, ESPN analyst and former SMU running back Craig James, complained to the school about alleged mistreatment after the player sustained a serious head injury. Leach is currently being investigated by the school.

The crime? Check this out and tell me it wasn’t supposed to be in the beginning of a Saw movie.

A source with knowledge of the situation confirmed that Leach is under investigation for allegedly sending a player into a darkened room after he came to practice wearing sunglasses to ease the discomfort of a recent mild concussion. It has been confirmed that the unnamed player is sophomore receiver Adam James, who has caught 17 passes for 154 yards and one touchdown this season.

Yikes. Continue Reading »
