Welcome to the NBA

It’s still pretty early, but I think it’s safe to say the 76ers are going to be in the mix for the East. That’s not really saying much seeing it’s probably the weakest conference in the history of the game.

Anyone else geeked up about the Superbowl?  Call me biased but even if you’re not a Pats or Giants fan I would have to think that most of the country is pretty psyched to watch this thing.   Maybe I’m wrong and maybe I’m saying this because I am in fact a Giants fan.

But come on.  Who doesn’t love a good old fashioned rematch being played in the house that Eli’s big brother built?   Other than this kind of big game on Sunday I’m not focused on too much right now.

However, we did manage to get some pretty tasty sports photos during the week.  Enjoy them after the jump….

Today, we curiously take a peak at some of the highest-paid athletes from 2011. It should come as no surprise to anyone to find the likes of Tiger Woods, Alex Rodriguez, Kobe Bryant, and Alex Rodriguez. Others were somewhat surprising…

Forbes magazine earnings totals were derived from salaries, bonuses, prize money, appearance fees, and licensing and endorsement income. The 50 highest paid athletes earned a combined $1.4 billion, or $28 million on average.

Take a look at some of the surprises…

Don’t sleep on Urban Meyer and Ohio State! I’m willing to bet that OSU is tops in recruiting for the next few years despite all the nonsense they went through. Urban saves the day.

The ‘Headlines’ rapper used his 16 bars to diss Vanessa for taking $75 million and three mansions from Kobe in their divorce settlement. Drake claimed that Vanessa made no direct contribution to Kobe’s basketball career, therefore did not deserve to gain so much.

“Kobe bout to lose 150 M’s. Kobe my n*gga. I hate it had to be him. B*tch, you wasn’t wit me shootin in the gym.”

This isn’t true? I hate to defend Kobe because as a person he’s a d-bag, but talk about a winning lottery ticket.

This week the NBA saw three amazing plays.   Two were the kind of amazing that you jaw drop and can’t stop saying wow.  The other one was just funny.   First we saw Lebron James leap over little John Lucas for an incredibly alley oop against the Bulls.   I think people might underestimate how great that dunk was because it was IN A GAME.  Think about that.  Jumping over a guy like that in a game on an oop.   Unreal.

Second was the Diop missed free throw.   You almost have to feel bad for the guy.  I mean when you shoot a foul shot that’s literally about 7 feet you’ve got some serious confidence issues.  I’m sure Shaq was laughing his ass off when he saw that clip.

And then number 3, which is our choice.   This dunk.   I mean come on Blake Griffin.   This has gotta be the dunk of the year.  It’s very similar to the one he did last year on Timofy Mozgov only this one’s a bit closer to being a dunk and he’s further from the basket.  Plus it’s on Kendrick Perkins who isn’t the type to let this stuff happen.

That this is occurring on a ten foot rim is incredibly disturbing.
